The fish is the oldest motif in Bengali folk pottery. Hand-incised before firing, with a keyhole on the back. Wheel-throwing & kiln-firing in Rajshahi, Bangladesh, by the Bagha Clay Studio. Because it is made by hand from a plant rather than moulded from a compound, small differences in colour, weave and dimension are normal and are not faults. Inert earthenware; break and return to soil, or reuse as drainage crock.
